Shared hosting with cPanel usually allows you to select the PHP version per domain with the MultiPHP Manager.This seems like a really precarious time PHP-wise, with many incompatibilities. If you’re just running Joomla it’s not a big problem, but often sites on shared hosting are constrained by what other apps need to use PHP and as a volunteer it’s hard to find the time to diagnose.
